Scale or Depth
Tomorrow I am teaching a class on how social entrepreneurs address really big problems. We’ll be over simplifying for the purposes of our 1hr 15 min class, but basically discussing two methods of impact…
We are lucky to count on a broad network of amazing friends and advisors. This trusted and experienced board of advisors has been kind enough to offer up their time and talent to help guide our work. As a small organization, we rely on the expertise and ideas of others, and this group of individuals play a particularly vital role, informing the direction and strategy of the Foundation.
David Bornstein specializes in writing about social innovation. He is the author of “How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas” (Oxford University Press) which was described by The New York Times as “must reading” for “anyone who cares about building a more equitable and stable world” and a “bible” in its field. The book, which has been published (or is in the process of being published) in 20 languages, chronicles and analyzes the work of social innovators who are successfully addressing social problems at scale in several countries. Bornsteinʼs first book, “The Price of a Dream: The Story of the Grameen Bank,” traces the history of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Grameen Bank during its first 20 years and describes the global emergence of the now-famous anti-poverty strategy known as “micro-finance.” His newest book, Social Entrepreneurship: What Everyone Needs to Know (written with Susan Davis) offers a brief overview of the field of social entrepreneurship and explores where it may be heading. Most recently, he founded Dowser.org, a media organization that reports on social innovation, focusing on the question: Who is solving what and how?
David grew up in Montreal, Canada and now lives in New York City with his wife and son.
